The Perseids Meteor Shower Story
Bonnie's Garden - Bonnie Pega
The Perseids meteor shower occurs every August. This year, the peak time will be this week, August 11th, 12th, and 13th. They'll be most visible between late evening and dawn. When my kids were small, we always took our vacation the second week in August. Every night, we'd eat dinner, then go out to the beach and hang out until late—lying on blankets and marveling at the show overhead.

August Gardening Tasks
Let's Talk Gardening - Doug Hensel
Your summer-blooming annuals may begin to look leggy and worn out. Don't give up on them just yet. Give your summer-blooming annuals a haircut. And, then fertilize. Trimming and feeding will revitalize them and they will bloom beautifully until the first killing frost.

Succession Vegetable Gardening
Let's Talk Gardening - Doug Hensel
Succession vegetable gardening is planting a second crop of vegetables. It's a trend more people are attempting in order to grow more produce for a longer period of time.If you have space then it only makes sense especially with the increase cost of produce with our supermarkets.

Container Gardening Tips
Mixing and matching plants within a container is half the fun of container gardening. When buying plants, keep in mind to match plants that prefer similar amounts of moisture and sunlight and buy spillers, thrillers & fillers for maximum aesthetic appeal.

A Trick Called "Deadheading"
Deadheading will not only encourage many more flowers it will create a longer bloom time. Remove the faded flowers from the plant by pinching off the flower head. Now the plant will spend its energy producing more flowers instead of going to seed!
