Cicadas do not cause severe damage to most garden plants. Branch dieback (flagging) is being observed now on trees and shrubs where eggs were laid. If desired, prune out damaged branches that you can reach safely. Pruning is beneficial to tree health and can be done in late June. If you put netting on garden plants, remove it when you no longer hear male cicadas singing. | | |
