COVID 19 update - Guidance provided by the Maryland Governor's office categorizes Landscaping as an essential service that should remain open in this time of statewide closures. While business cannot go on "as usual", Meadows Farms is taking every precaution to protect employees and customers. I presume the source of the moisture is a spring that is in close proximity or perhaps beneath the garden shed. The spring dampens the forested area just beyond the boundary of the property, and a noticeable flow winds from here to the rear of the garden. When flowering in early March, a large 'Dorothy Wycoff' Japanese andromeda (Pieris japonica 'Dorothy Wycoff') by the corner of the garage attracts a multitude of bees that are often quite aggressive in early spring. I usually take an alternate route to the rear garden so I don't stir them up, but now, even on a sunny, seventy degree day there are only handfuls. Dear Valued Customer,  At Meadows Farms Nurseries and Landscape, our purpose is to provide our community the opportunity to create and experience joy through gardening. We are passionate about gardening and providing you with the plants, products, and services you need to create an indoor and outdoor oasis and improve your mental and physical health. Uncertain times can create stress, so now is the perfect time to get outside and breathe in some fresh air, soak up some vitamin D, and dig in the dirt. Your back yard can become the bright spot that brings joy to your day.    Our focus has always been on the well-being of our customers, our staff and their families and that focus is an even bigger priority today. As the spread of COVID-19 continues to be a concern across the country, we want to share with you the preventative measures we’re taking to assure you can confidently shop with us for your gardening needs.    First and foremost, we’ve implemented staff education on preventative measures and asked associates who aren’t feeling well or believe they may be at risk to stay home. We have also created a new policy to provide extra support if they are affected by the virus.   Secondly, if you can’t come to the garden center to shop, we are offering other options. Just give us a call to discuss your gardening needs.  You can pick up curbside or delivery service is available.   Finally, as a landscape design and installation client, per your request we can conduct as much of your initial consultation outside as possible.  All of our installation crews are trained to work independently using our design plans. This should keep personal contact to a minimum throughout the process.   We will continue to monitor the situation and take all precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of our customers, our staff, and our communities.  We value you as a customer and are grateful for the opportunity to offer you a little bit of sunshine. We urge you to do whatever you can to stay healthy and help one another stay healthy. In times such as this, there is no place like home and in the garden!
