Let Fireflies Light Up Your Life
Bonnie's Garden - Bonnie Pega
One of the things I enjoy most in my wildlife-friendly yard is watching the fireflies. What kid hasn't run around their back yard at dusk chasing fireflies? To encourage fireflies in your yard, mow your grass a little higher—fireflies hide here during the day. Plant a variety of flowers and try to leave night lights off.

Slug Away!
Let's Ttalk Gardening - Doug Hensel
Gardeners love their hosta plants but hate all the predators that love to feast on these beauties. I am referring to slugs and not deer. Slugs love to live under hosta plants mainly because hostas grow in our shady gardens, which tend to stay moist and cool, and their leaves hug close to the ground which provides excellent habitat and a perfect hiding place for slugs.

A Trick Called "Deadheading"
Deadheading will not only encourage many more flowers it will create a longer bloom time. Remove the faded flowers from the plant by pinching off the flower head. Now the plant will spend its energy producing more flowers instead of going to seed!
Benefits of Deadheading
